Ryan Sung Google Economic Report

In its annual Economic Impact Report, global search engine and data analytics leader Google featured Honolulu Cookie Company as a key success story and quoted General Manager Ryan Sung, recently appointed the second-generation leader of the Hawai‘i-based company.

“We are humbled to have been selected as the company featured by Google,” Ryan said. “It is partially through the marketing department’s employment of Google AdWords that Honolulu Cookie Company has become such an iconic gift of Hawai‘i, as well as through the dedication and hard work of the entire Honolulu Cookie Company family.”

According to the report, about 60 percent of Honolulu Cookie Company’s e-commerce revenue was generated through digital advertising in 2017, a figure that is expected to grow. Google helped to generate some $171 million of economic activity for Hawai‘i businesses, according to the annual Economic Impact Report for 2017. Roughly 5,300 Hawai‘i businesses, website publishers and nonprofit organizations used Google advertising tools including AdWords and AdSense in 2017. Nonprofits benefited from $2.07 million in free advertising through Google’s Ad Grants program during the study year, the report said.
